New Lexington High School (Ohio)

New Lexington High School is a public high school in New Lexington, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the New Lexington City School District. Their mascot is the Panthers.

Football

The football program, currently headed by Coach Bill Nutt, has historically played well. Reaching the playoffs seven times, the program won the 1970 state championship and reached the quarterfinals in 2006.

Track and Field

In 1989 the New lexington Men's team won the MVL Championship. Also that year they had several individual league Champions which were. Mike Hupp in the 1600m run and the 3200m run; Todd Fox in the 800m run; Chad Kirkbride in the 300 IM Hurdles; Chad Smith 400m Dash; Dan Fink 200m dash; and the relay teams 3200m relay (Hupp,Troy Fox,Todd Fox, Smith) and the 1600m relay (Fink, Kirkbride, Smith, Todd Fox). During the 1989 season the team went undefeated in the Muskingum Valley League (MVL). One state qualifier- Todd Fox in the 800m run.

In 1990 the New Lexington Men's team once again won the MVL Championship. The team once again went undefeated in the MVL. Individual league Champions were Chad Kirkbride 300 IM hurdles; Dan Fink in the 100m Dash and 200m Dash; Chad Smith in the 400m Dash; and the 1600m Relay (Fink, Todd Shiplett, Kirkbride, Smith). The team had several state qualifiers that year which were Dan Fink in the 100m Dash; Chad Smith in the 400m dash and the 400m relay and the 1600m relay teams. The relay teams each took 16th place in the state track meet, Dan Fink finished 11th in the 100m dash and Chad Smith finished 3rd in the 400m Dash.

Marching Band

The school's marching band is directed by David Harmon and assisted by Terri Studer as the Flag Corps Director. David Harmon retires is May of 2012. He will he very missed. Happy retirement Mr.Harmon-class of 2011
